Funding for Maja's Medical Expense
Donation protected
This is Maja. She is my niece . I started this fundraiser to help out with her medical bills. She is afflicted by a rare immuno deficiency disease called Job's syndrome or Hyper IgE Syndrome. Basically it means that her body, without the help of IV antibiotics, is incable of fighting any kind of infection. What might be a common cold for an average person, for Maja it can easily ecalate into any kind of infection, from pneumonia to meningitis or sepsis or fungal infection in the blood. Since childhood Maja has been in and out of hospital for various infections, so much so that she thought that this is "normal", that other kids go thru the same thing. But Maja is a fighter. She is very intelligent. She is an excellent writer. Maja never let her condition get in the way of living a normal life, getting a degree in Psychology, land a teaching position at a local university. While confined at the hospital for another infection, she fought on determinedly and successfully got her Master's Degree.
A year ago Maja suffered a critical setback. Almost comatose Maja was rushed to a nearest acute care hospital, a gruelling 12hr trip by ambulance from her hometown to Manila. No air ambulance for her because change in air pressure will be fatal. 8 months of treatments and potent antibiotics Maja recovered and was finally discharged home. Her parents savings wiped out along with the thousands of dollars our family, friends have raised, used up during her extensive hospitalization. Shortly before Christmas, Maja suffered another set back with another infection, more spinal tap to see if her brain was once more infected. I am appealing to any one's generosity for support. Any amount will greatly help. Thank you.
