Lori is a church musician, freelance trumpeter, and educator who experienced her first diagnosis of breast cancer in 2013. She had a lumpectomy followed by radiation therapy and received the “all clear,” following up with regular exams as one should.
In February of this year, a routine exam showed something irregular and a biopsy determined the presence of cancer once again. But this time it’s an aggressive form (thankfully found in stage 1) and must be treated with 5 months of chemotherapy, followed by a mastectomy, followed by 10 more months of treatment.
Her insurance is not sufficient to cover the costs that she will bear, and it is likely that she will have to cut back on her work in order to follow through with the treatment. Additionally, the treatment will continue over two calendar years and that means it will double the deductible and the out-of-pocket limit she must pay.
Lori is “convinced that with faith in God and the support of my friends I will get through this” but knows that the financial burden will be too great to handle alone. Any donation that you can make will be deeply appreciated.
