Graham Hunt Memorial Fund

Dearest friends and fellow travelers,
One month ago, my love, Graham Isaac Hunt, took flight from a BASE exit on Taft Point, and never made it back down to the Valley floor. He flew from this life into the next, leaving behind a strong, loving, and supportive community that now must come together and try to accept the loss.
To compound the struggle, Graham’s student loans have been passed on to his family, giving them not only grief to handle, but financial stress as well.
This I simply cannot reconcile.
My thought was to reach out to our community in order to attempt to ease their struggle. Paying off Graham’s debt is my main motivation for turning to the GoFundMe website. However, should there be a surplus, it would be divided for a number of purposes.
The Leary family gave us a roof over our heads, a place where we could foster our love and let it grow into something beautiful. I am forever grateful for their kindness, and am always looking for ways to give back.
Graham was also very active in the El Portal community. He was always doing odd jobs for our neighbors, looking after the groms, chopping wood, and maintaining fire clearance. It would feel like an accomplishment to give something to the community in Graham’s name, perhaps allocating funds to the community center or park.
With your help, I would also like to give something to Yosemite Search & Rescue. I can’t explain to you what it meant to me when they assembled a Hasty Team that night and went out on foot, at 11PM, with little else than headlamps and their own voices calling out into the night. Thank you forever. Thank you for bringing my baby’s body back to us.
I wish that I could do all of these things personally, because… well truthfully, I am very stubborn, and no good at asking for help. But, today, I do need you. And I appreciate you. For simply clicking this link, and reading my words, you mean something to me. If what you have to give is sharing this story, then that will be enough. I am thankful for and to you. Please help if you can.

To the outdoor athletic community (a.k.a. our dirtbag friends):
You have been a blessing to me. You have been my strength and my soul these past few days, and I have never felt so loved and supported. I am so grateful to be able to call you my brothers and sisters.
Many may not understand the things that we do or the risks that we take, but it has never been so clear to me as it is now.
In each other, we have found family. We are forever connected to each other through grief and joy, through struggle and accomplishment.
I love you all.
But, one favor I would ask. If you could send me letters, photos, artwork inspired by my sweet G, that would mean the world. I am trying to assemble some sort of memorial piece, be it collage, slide show or written work, and I want to know how Graham inspires you, and how he will live on in your heart. I want to hear how you remember him, and how you will honor him, because I simply cannot accept the idea that he will fade away. My wizard, ninja, Viking, metalhead. My proud love. My sweetest heart.
Thank you.
