Educating Samson

Last week I was lucky enough to meet Samson. I was in Johannesburg seeking inspiration from Jenny who has set up an organisation called Read for Africa. Samson is 50 years old, has a family, works as a janitor in a theatre and he can't read - yet!
His reading lessons take place each week in the ticket office of the theatre. I sat in on what was to be Samson's last lesson. Every sound was painstakingly attempted and each sound he blended to form words astounded him - the look of delight on his face was infectious; I couldn't help but smile with him. Jenny knew this was to be his last session, so she told him she didn't know when she could see him again. "Please don't forget me" was all he said and my heart broke.
Please help Samson to read by funding a teacher to visit him weekly. Each lesson costs 300 Rand, which is £14. Please consider giving Samson one lesson or a series of lessons, but please let's show him that he is not forgotten.
Thank you x
