Ethiopia Medical Mission Trip
Donation protected
Hello everyone!
My name is Anika Hall and I am currently in my second year at Howard University College of Medicine (HUCM).
I am excited to share that I was selected to go on a medical mission trip with 14 of my classmates through the International Medicine Interest Group (IMIG) at HUCM. For the first two weeks of June, we will be volunteering in Gondar, a city in Ethiopia that is ~400 miles north of Addis Ababa, the country’s capital.
During this mission, we will be volunteering at the University of Gondar Hospital where we will have the opportunity to rotate through different specialties, assist the doctors in taking histories and perform physical exams. We will also observe surgical and obstetrical procedures and attend lecture presentations.
Because of my experiences growing up in Jamaica, I have a strong interest in global health and international medicine and view medicine through a cultural and social lens. I hope to deepen my knowledge about medicine, public health and healthcare systems through my time in Ethiopia, as well as serve the patients and community of Gondar.
Because this trip is planned and funded entirely by students, we have been working hard to raise money to offset the costs. Donations will assist me in covering airfare ($1700), meals ($200), accommodations ($945), vaccinations ($300) and a visa ($52).
Any donation amount is appreciated! Even if you are unable to donate monetarily, please share my fundraising link with your friends and family. Thank you for your continuous support throughout my journey to becoming a physician! I am eternally grateful.
Sincerely,
Anika
