Help Rebuild My Family's Home in Gaza

Hello everyone,

My name is Aliaa, and I am reaching out from Denmark with a heavy heart and a hopeful plea. My family in north Gaza has recently experienced unimaginable devastation. Their home, a place that sheltered multiple generations, has been bombed and destroyed. This house was not just a structure; it was a sanctuary for my grandparents, their children, and grandchildren — 37 family members.

Our family’s story is one of resilience in the face of repeated displacement. My grandfather, Mohammed, was first forcibally displaced during the Nakba in 1948 from Majdal, now known as Ashkelon. They were displaced to the Gaza Strip, where his parents were given a piece of land in the Jabalya refugee camp by the UN, where they made a new life. This land became the foundation of our family’s home, a place of memories, laughter, and love.

Tragically, this home has now been reduced to rubble amidst the ongoing conflict. During the war, my family has been forcibly displaced multiple times. While seeking refuge in a UN school, my uncle, Ehab, and 12-year-old cousin, Odai, were murdered while trying to get water for the rest of the family. The school was invaded and burned down, forcibly displacing and separating my family once again. The heartache was too much for my grandmother Fathiya, and she passed away amidst these tragedies, separated from her children and grandchildren, far away from her home.

After being displaced so many times, my family returned to their home, only to be forced to leave once more during the second land invasion in the North of Gaza. During this time, their house was bombed and destroyed. My family now finds themselves homeless, having lost everything they own. All their dreams have been shattered, taken away from them. The situation in northern Gaza has been dire from the start, with no access to food, clean water, or shelter.

We aim to raise enough money to help rebuild our family’s home in Gaza. The funds will be used to rebuild their home, providing safe and secure shelter for them.
