Young, Gifted, Black: College Bound

My name is Johari and I am 19. My family lives at the poverty line and before 9th grade, I'd never been formally schooled. Still, through hard work and determination, I completed my first year at Temple University's School of Theatre, Film and Media Arts.
Unfortunately, without financial support from a caring community, I will not be able to continue to attend. Getting into college was the most important thing I have ever done, but I need your support to see it through.
My family situation is... complicated. At 13 years old, I had to leave home to live with family friends. Since I hadn't been formally schooled until 9th grade, it took time to adjust to the pace, work, and social aspect of high school. With help from my chosen family and others -- I not only gained my high school diploma, but was accepted to college and had an incredible freshman year at Temple. As a low-income Black girl, I was taught to take care of others, and have spent a good majority of my life doing just that. Now, I'm asking that you help me take care of myself by furthering my education.
If 100 people were able to each give at least $150.00 each, I would reach my goal. It is really hard for me to ask for help, again, but attending Temple University could give me the opportunity I need to thrive for the rest of my life. Will you help me?
