Save My Kitty

Donation protected
Hi, folks... this young kitty is called Nergle. She's just three years old, and she's in danger of dying from peritonitis.

She'd been losing weight and sleeping a lot. Her fur was getting spiky, like she wasn't grooming herself. She's always been picky about her drinking water, but lately her appetite has dropped to a nibble... when I ran my hand down her back, it was like a washboard. My fifteen-year-old and I took her to the vet, where she had a thorough exam and x-rays.

TL; DR: Love is expensive. Please donate and boost the signal.

Play-by-play follows:

She had a mass in her intestines. Gas pockets blocked in by it. Huge abdominal lymph nodes. Fever, some kind of infection... ugh. Partial obstruction and threat of perforation. Perforation would most likely mean a very painful death. Peritonitis is nasty.

There followed MRIs, proposals of surgery, referrals, and a hail-mary move to get her to an internal medicine specialist (vets like summer for vacations too). Presumption of cancer, treat-to-test, oncologist and a hard left: exploratory surgery could not be avoided further. Follow-up scans are not cheap, and you don’t get a bulk discount. No card to punch.

Nergle is seven days since surgery, five days home. I hate to post a “busted kitty” pic at the top, especially since she’s feeling much better today, but I have to bang the drum again for help. $7K is a lot, and I am profoundly grateful. But more ruinously expensive scans are likely coming on the 19th, at which time I hope we’ll get an actual diagnosis— and a course of action, with estimates.

Got my hands together hoping for relatively inexpensive treatment. I’m dreaming of shutting this GoFundMe down, saying “That’s all, folks!” and only posting cute healthy kitty pics. Gotta get her there first.

If you’ve donated money already (some of you have done so more than once ❤️), please pass the word around. If you have big presence on social media, or have friends who do, please give Nergs a boost.

Thank you for helping my sweet girl, who is not to blame for the way her feeding-tube diet smells. When all this settles down, I can donate time with her vets to feed pets with these contraptions. It takes some getting used to.

She's a sweet-tempered, gentle animal. She's tiny, and still soft as a kitten. She's a good companion to me on long workdays, and sleeps with my son at night.

She might still have a long life ahead of her. Your help will give her a better chance.

Thank you.
