Xavier Burn Medical Care
Donation protected
While with my mother on Mother's Day my brother and my mom were cleaning the yard. My brother wanted to take care of a pile of brush that my mom had stacked up for quite a while. He thought it would be a good idea to help our Mom by burning the brush, so he poured gas on the brush not thinking that it would be as dried out as it was. When he bent over to light the brush there was an explosion of fire and my brother fell back. My brother had been lit on fire by the explosion and while trying to roll it out, he realized he still had the gas can in his hands which led to more fires being started and ultimately worse burns. My mom witnessed the whole thing and was completely terrified knowing there wasn't anything she could do at that moment. My mom quickly escorted my brother into the house and began dumping cold water on him, and proceeded to try to put the gas can out that was spewing fire. My mom rushed Xavier to Rockdale hospital emergency room and Xavier had to be transferred to a burn unit in Cobb county due to the severity of the burns. My brother was in the hospital for 3 days and had to have surgery to help insure the burns heal correctly. During the surgery, the doctors scraped and debrided my brother's skin and then attached donor skin to him. My brother is covered with bandages on both legs, his right arm, and his left hand is covered. He is currently unable to do the simplest things without my mom's help, including getting around, driving or even getting out of bed. Normally we wouldn't put our family business out there like this, but I know his bills are piling up from the emergency rooms ambulance ride and surgery, and currently he is not able to work. My mom is having to miss work as well, taking Xavier back and forth to Cobb wellstar hospital and leaving to insure he is cared for throughout the day. His intention was just to do something nice for my Mom on Mother's day. We are asking for any help with donations so my brother doesn't walk away with a mountain of debt and so my mom and brother can keep food in the house during this time. Any amount will help and we thank you in advance for any contributions.
