Michele - No One Fights Alone

Donation protected
On June 4, 2015, Michele was taken to the hospital by her husband for some pain she was experiencing.  It must have been excruciating, because Michele has a high tolerance for pain and is not one to go to the doctor.  You can imagine my surprise when I woke up on Friday the 5th to a text from her saying she had been in surgery during the night and was probably going to be at the hospital for a couple of days.  Shortly after receiving the text, I arrived at the hospital to find Michele sitting up in bed.  She started to joke and laugh the minute she saw me, her laughter is contagious.  I sat with her and we talked just like we always did.  There she was with her Minnie Mouse painted finger nails.  She was supposed to leave the next Friday to take her daughter Mikaela to Disneyland for graduation.  Apparently, as soon as she woke up from surgery, her first question was if she could still take her daughter to Disneyland.  We joked about the fact that if she went in a wheel chair she could move to the front of the lines.

When I left that day, I had no idea I would be returning two days later to find her in the ICU with tubes connected everywhere.  During the  48 hours after the time I had last seen her, she had suffered several medical complications following her initial surgery.  Among these, included a stroke, a fall (with associated injuries), pneumonia, and multiple blood clots.  As a result, it became necessary for her to be airlifted to the California Pacifc Medical Center in SF.  Unbelievable!  That is the word I keep saying to myself and everyone else.  It’s unbelievable.

Here we are, June 18th, and our dear friend is still in the hospital.  On the 16th, she was moved from the ICU area.  YAY for that!  At this point, our prayers are that she doesn't have to be moved back to the ICU and she can remain on the path of recovery.  The staff has told Kevin, Michele’s husband, many times how impressed they are with her and her fighting spirit!  We all know and love her spirit.  She had several surgeries and is now in the recovery process.  Due to the stroke she suffered, she has several therapists working with her daily.  She is to remain in San Francisco for recovery.  She has a long road ahead of her; but if anyone can do it, Michele can.

To know Michele is to LOVE her.  Her personality and laughter are infectious.  She brightens every room she goes into and is the best kind of friend anyone could ask for but doesn’t deserve.

Now, it is our turn to be that friend to Michele.  Her family’s lives have been turned upside down.  The effects are not only emotional, but also economical.  At this time, we are not sure when Michele will be fully recovered and able to go back to work.

Kevin has faithfully been driving back and forth to San Francisco.  He spends his days there and his nights at home with the kids.  He is desperately trying to retain some sort of normalcy for his family.

This Go Fund Me account will assist the family with the uncovered medical bills and support the family during this time.  We are asking for your continued prayers that Michele makes a full recovery and that you would consider donating to this beautiful family.

Every day, Michele went out of her way to make people feel special, friend or stranger.  Now it’s our turn to show her how special she is.  Small or large, your contribution will forever be appreciated.
