Gemma really needs your help.
Gemma and her son was trapped in a fire in a high block of flats. Gemma was on the 4th floor the fire was 2 floors below here. see the link, it was gemma who was screaming for help out of the windows. She is completly traumatised. She has lost everything and has no insurance and no savings.
she phoned 999 who told to take her and her baby and wait in the bathroom while the fire tor through the building below. trapping her inside thinking he and her child was going to die in there screaming for help as it spread up the building. She couldn’t leave as the corridors and stairwells were full of thick smoke. Luckily she didn’t try and escape because she would of died from the smoke.
She needs as much supports as possible. She has nothing at all. Other than the clothes she was wearing. She is too proud to ask for help but is actually in desperate need.
the block she was in was previously an office block provided as temporary accodation by Croydon council, quite some years ago it was also deemed a fire risk and unsafe for housing but she remained there for 4more years.
she has been left with nothing the following day of the fire Croydon council tried to offer high a 1 bed flat 7th floor of a high rise, or they would cancel her hotel. They will re house her but in the mean time she is in a hotel with nothing and is not getting extra help and is going to have to completely start her life again.
knowing how scared and vulnerable she is they said they would make her homeless and end her hotel if she doesn’t accept the high rise 1 bed flat 7th floor flat as permanent hosing for her and son so they can have 1 room each.
