Moms on a Mission
Donation protected
Our Initiative is to eradicate poverty in single mothers and children.
Our mission is to provide a center where single moms on a mission have all of the resources they need: transportation, childcare, essential items and emergency funding. We are also focused on providing free workshops on mental health, financial education and entrepreneurship. A holistic approach to successful living.
Our EntrepreneuHER initiative is designed to bring single working mothers out of poverty.
EntrepreneuHER
Being a woman in business can be challenging and sometimes hard to navigate. Only 5.4% of women in Ohio are entrepreneurs. The average median income for single-mother families in Ohio is just over $24,000 whereas single-father homes are almost double. By creating more female entrepreneurs we can raise the poverty level for single moms in Ohio and provide a better work/home balance. Moms on a mission will provide mentoring from female entrepreneurs, free workshops on creating their own businesses, and help single moms reach their professional goals.
MENTAL HEALTH
Mental health is more than emotional and psychological. Social well-being and wellness are also key factors for a healthy mind. Finding recourses available to get help with mental health isn't always easy or affordable. Moms getting this help determines how they handle stress, interpersonal relationships, and decision-making. With your help Moms on a mission will provide access to licensed therapists and mental health workshops free of cost.
EMERGENCY FUNDS FOR A MOM ON A MISSION
Life was difficult trying to provide the daily needs of my daughters while building my businesses and working full-time. Mentally and physically it can be very challenging to persevere when you are alone. You can help a mom on a mission by providing them with the financial support needed for things like food and clothing.
MY STORY AS FOUNDER OF MOMS ON A MISSION
I moved to Columbus from Lima, Ohio a little over 10 years ago. When I moved here I had nothing. I stayed with family for at least a year and slept on a blow-up mattress with my daughter Laila that was 3 at the time. I worked hard to provide for myself and my children while still trying to improve their quality of life isn't easy. Unfortunately there aren't many recourses for women who work hard and are already helping themselves. I was that GAP! I could only make so much money to secure childcare and if I made just a little more than the stipulated requirements I would lose my monthly childcare benefits. If there would've been recourses for me to keep my benefits and get help with small things like clothes and food I could've been in a better place a lot faster and set my children up for a greater level of success. I decided to walk away from the time clock because the systems put in place to help me, failed me. I felt it was economic slavery and had to set myself free. I understand and know many women who are in the same position I've been in. I am dedicated to helping women that were in my same position by providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed. This is a dream to do the work I love for the women I believe in and to have my daughters be witnesses to that.
