Kidney Liver Transplant

Hello Family, Friends, and Supporters.

My name is Daniel Noel, and I was born and raised here in Sudbury. I am here today writing to you to reach out for help. Six years ago, I was admitted to Health Sciences North and from the tests run, found out I had kidney failure. It is not reversible. I have what they call autoimmune kidney disease. After five years of fighting through it, and a variety of different medications, my body could just not keep up anymore and I ended up on dialysis since January 25, 2021. Dialysis for me takes place three times a week, for a few hours each session which takes place in the evenings after my full day of work.

So far, I have been to London three times and have another trip to London planned; I am hoping it is my last visit with the transplant team before being put on the list for a kidney my transplant. Currently I am at 5% glomerular filtration rate (GFR) which is a measurement for kidneys. A normal range for someone of my age would be in the 90’s.

After the transplant I will have to stay in London for approximately 1 month after surgery so I can be there for the many after-care medical appointments that will happen during that time, and then with back-and-forth visits afterwards from Sudbury to London. These visits will continue until they are comfortable with me continuing my appointments with the specialists here in Sudbury. As you can imagine, this process will be costly as I will be unable to work during this time.

Here is my humble ask. I am starting the process of asking for financial help during this time and reaching out to draw on the kindness of my family and friends, as well as our strong and kind community. It is taking me a lot to do this, as I am a proud individual, however I also know I am unable to move forward with the transplant if I am unable to financially take care of myself during this period. So, I ask if you can spare any nominal amount, to please donate for my care.
