Volunteer Work in Australia
Donation protected
Hello everyone thanks for taking the time to visit my page. My name is Jamie, I'm currently studying a level 3 diploma in Animal Management and Veterinary Nursing at Solihull College and University in the UK.
I've been very passionate about animal welfare and working with animals since I was a child. I have previously worked for Home2Home Fundraising to raise money for Guide Dogs UK and RSPCA. I'm also currently doing voluntary work experience for the BlueCross cattery we have at the college. But my long term goal is to become a animal biologist, wildlife conservation ranger and educational film maker.
In addition to this, I have been given a once in a life time opportunity to volunteer for an animal sanctuary in the Australian outback. I recently applied to volunteer for a company called GOECO (please follow the link bellow for the details), so that I could better my education and gain more experience working with wild exotic animals in their natural environment. My work starts with them on August 9th 2020 and I will be over there for 3 weeks.
I will work Monday - Friday being assigned tasks such as; providing fresh food and water, cleaning out enclosures, health examinations, recording the animals health, studying the animal and much more. The also provide on site accommodation with 3 meals a day, wifi, wash rooms and laundry services. Plus they provide transport to local bus/train stations and the airport. Then on the weekend I get to have free time to explore, but knowing me I'll just want to stay with the animals...but that's what I'm there for *smiley face*
As you may already know, Australia has just faced devastating wild fires and has lost nearly half a billion animals. So I feel that this opportunity will not only benefit my education and work experience, but it will help rebuild some of the animals lives that has been tragically impacted by this disaster.
During my experience I will document everything I learn to share with others as I feel it is important to share education. I will do this by making a short film, live video links and a online blog.
However, being an independent student and in full time education and part time work my funds are limited. My over all target is £3500 and I can afford to put £1,500 which will cover my flights, health and travel insurance. So I'm asking you and the rest of the good hearted people very generously, to help as little or a much as you can to help raise the remaining £2000. The funds raised will cover the cost for the accommodation and the other services provided (Please follow the link below for full details on the trip) and in addition to this page, I'm also setting up a fitness class to help raise money. I know it’s a lot too ask for, but the £2000 I'm raising needs to be paid by the end of April 2020. This why I'm asking for help as I wont be able to meet that deadline on my own.
If you are willing to donate then I would like to thank you sincerely for you generosity. It means a lot to me and no matter how much you donate it will go a long way....literally XD
But if you don't have the funds to donate, then don't stress I understand! But could I ask you to spare 2 more seconds of your time and share my story please, as there maybe others you know willing to donate to this great cause.
Thank you and good will to all
Jamie
