The Power of Education India 2016

Hello & Thank You For Taking the Time to Read This!
Many of you know me already, but for those of you who don't know me; my name is Jody Toliver, I am a full time mother of 3 and a full time student.  I am a senior at Arizona State University and my educational focus is on Global Health, Justice Studies & Human Rights.

Arizona State University has partnered with the International Allience for the Prevention of AIDS (IAPA), to provide students like myself, the opportunity to become a pieces of an amazing project. This project is  making a difference and saving lives both locally in Arizona and internationally in India. I am beyond blessed to have been chosen to be part of the IAPA 2016 Summer Volunteer program in Chennai, India.

For 8 weeks my IAPA family and I, will have the opportunity to share invaluable information and knowledge about HIV/AIDS with both children and adults in traditional school settings, slums, rural and poverty stricken villages, orphanages, and community centers. The impact that HIV/AIDS has on communities and countries can be devastating. As IAPA volunteers, we provide accurate fact based education on the prevention of HIV/AIDS and will be fighting to change the stigmas that are often associated with this disease.

Unfortunately,  having the ability to facilitate compassionate humanitarian work comes with a price tag. I was fortunate enough to have received a small University Grant which was beyond helpful, because every little bit helps! And I have also applied for multiple scholarships, but have yet to here back. So now I am here, telling my story and throwing it into the universe to ask ever so humbly for any donation that will help me be a part of the amazing IAPA 2016 Summer Volunteer Program. If the money donated exceeds my goal, the other volunteers and I will be purchasing items for those in need in Chennai, India.  Again, I cannot thank you all enough for taking your time to read this.
Be kind and compassionate always.
Namaste.
