My bud, David Williams, is a 46-year-old professional graphic designer and musician. In August 2023, he was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer, specifically adenocarcinoma, which had spread to his liver. He started an aggressive chemotherapy regimen; however, his condition worsened when he became seriously ill due to a blockage caused by a large tumor in his colon. This situation necessitated an emergency stent placement.
After a year of ineffective treatments, Dave underwent surgery to remove as much cancer as possible. As a result, he had to have an ostomy. While his surgeon initially reported success in removing the tumor from his colon, further imaging later revealed that the cancer had spread to the lining of his stomach. Since Dave could no longer tolerate traditional chemotherapy due to nerve damage, he was prescribed a chemotherapy pill. Unfortunately, this medication has severe side effects, including bleeding around his stoma and intense muscle pain.
Despite facing numerous challenges, Dave has continued to work from home to manage his bills, which have surged due to his treatment costs.
Dave was a victim of an armed robbery in Savannah, GA, on June 28, 2008. Dave and the late Jason Statts were shot point-blank in the neck. The bullet went through Jason's neck; it entered the left side of Dave's neck and is now lodged in his right shoulder. Dave lost one of his vocal cords. Jason was a quadriplegic who passed away on September 17, 2021.
To help alleviate some of the stress that Dave and his family are experiencing, I hope you can donate whatever you can.
I appreciate your support.
Sincerely, Jen Young Hammer
