Help us help our old lady ensure her quality of life

We rescued Kitty and Schoki from our local shelter five years ago at the ages of 9 and 11. Kitty is now close to 15 years old, and Schoki is 16. Both were full of life and healthy until recently. Now, I am posting under circumstances we wouldn't have seen coming.

Just a month ago, Kitty was full of energy, jumping and running like a little kitten. Around three weeks ago, we suddenly recognized that she was having trouble walking straight. We rushed to the vet immediately, who told us Kitty certainly did not have a stroke. Her guess is that she is having issues with her spine and possible nerve damage. She gave her some vitamins, Solensia and Loxicom, and told us to monitor her condition. Since then, we have had three more visits to the vet because her balance and ability to jump declined rapidly. We had her x-rayed, and our vet is diagnostically not 100 percent sure what might have caused the issue, so she told us that we should go and visit a special vet clinic with better diagnostic equipment and specialized doctors and surgeons. The reason for her uncertainty is that this condition could be caused by various things. From spinal nerve damage, diabetes, blood clots or thrombosis, or worse - a tumor.

On the positive side, she eats like a lion, drinks water regularly, and still wants to cuddle all day and play from time to time. The vet said she doesn't seem to be in too much pain. Still, it pains us to see her recline so fast, especially considering her playful nature and her will but inability to play for more than a minute before we can see the frustration in her eyes.
