Cardiac Arrest Survivor plans to paddle to Lundy
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brad and I suffered a Cardiac arrest and stopped breathing for 8 minutes until a passerby administered CPR and paramedics shocked me with a defibrillator bringing me back to life! This resulted in me sustaining a hypoxic brain injury at the age of 20 in 2015.
This changed my planned career in the navy and I have had to forge a different life for myself, starting with the long road of recovery.
During my journey, I was helped by two amazing charities which work with disabled people by getting them involved in outdoor activities. I want to give something back to Active8 and The Wave Project and also to challenge myself.
So my challenge will be to paddle in a sea kayak to Lundy island and hopefully back again. This is a very famous sea kayaking destination and definitely not for the faint hearted! This is an open water crossing of 30 km's with strong tides and sometimes challenging sea conditions.
I have assembled a small support team which will train and paddle with me hopefully in June of 2024.
I have set myself the target of fundraising £10,000 to be divided equally between the two charities.
