My dear friend of over 10 years, received the unimaginable call that every mother fears. Justin, aka "Pumpkin" had suffered a severe traumatic injury. He was airlifted to St Mary's Hospital. Thankfully, the friends he was with acted quickly to pull him from the water and start CPR, allowing the Martin County Rescue time to get there to stabilize him for transport. The family arrived at the hospital to find out that Justin had suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury.

Justin has been in critical care in the ICU since the accident occurred on February 18th.

He was intubated and underwent immediate surgery to repair the shattered C3-C5 of his neck. Since his spinal surgery on February 20th, he has had minimal feeling in his lower extremities but has been able to lift his arms. Despite the surgery, the trauma doctors say he may never regain complete feeling/mobility but the family REFUSE to accept this and asks for everyone to keep praying for a miracle for Justin.

Justin had just celebrated his 18th birthday days before this horrible accident. He is a strong, brave young man with a witty personality, kind-hearted, thoughtful, and a fighter! The Nesselhaufs are a family of 6. Allen is a great father that has spent many years coaching his son in baseball and teaching him how to fish. Tina is a selfless mother that lives every day for her 4 children.

Justin was a young man with a very promising future in college baseball to now a future very unknown. The next 6 months will be critical in determining the extent of his life-changing spinal injury. This GoFundMe is intended to help Justin and his family pay for medical expenses and upcoming rehabilitation and all of the unknown associated with his future care.
