Help Katelyn go on a Mission Trip

Hello! For those who do not know me, my name is Katelyn Heyliger. I am currently a junior at Calvary Christian High School. Recently I was presented with the unique and exciting opportunity to go on a mission trip to New York! I am so excited to see how God will work in wonderful ways!
Why am I so excited for this opportunity? Jesus is my Savior and the Lord of my life! He has and will always be faithful, loving, just, and true. I’ve seen God work in not only my life but also in others, and I look forward to continuing to see Him work. I believe this mission trip will be a beautiful opportunity for me to reduce the distractions of daily life and take a week to serve the Lord and listen to His voice. I will be going out into the city and showing God’s love by evangelizing and serving others. I believe this will help me to develop the heart of a servant, empathy for those in physical and/or spiritual poverty, and courage to share my faith in every opportunity I am presented with. I also look forward to growing my relationship with the Lord as well as establishing intimate friendships with the other Jesus-pursuing students that will be coming as well.
James 5:16 says, “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.”
Philippians 4:6 states, “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Prayer is such an important and beautiful thing! I’d greatly appreciate it if you’d be willing to be praying for me and the rest off the team. Here’s some prayer points:
- Pray for my relationship with God; pray that I will be consistently abiding in Him and seeking His guidance and wisdom in every situation.
- Pray for safety for the team.
- Pray that God will soften the hearts of the people we will be serving and evangelizing to.
If you are able and willing to help with financial provision, I’d greatly appreciate donations! I understand that’s not something for everyone, but it is a really big factor I have to work with.
What will I be doing on this trip?
•Our team will be partnering with New York School of Urban Ministries
•I will be learning about
-Servant leadership
-Hands-on compassion ministry
-Inner-city ministry
-Reaching people through:
•Street meetings
•Soup kitchens/food trucks
•Kids programs
•City shelters
