I’m shaving my head for cancer!
Donation protected
2020 has been a trying year, but unfortunately it hasn’t stopped throwing curve balls at us just yet. Nearly four weeks ago my sister, Jaime, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. It has been difficult to process especially given Jaime is only 24 years of age, but I think we have all come to terms with the diagnoses and what lays ahead.
I have made the decision to shave my head and raise funds to support both Jaime and the Lymphoma Foundation. My hair (ponytail) will be donated to the Sustainable Salons program where my hair will then be moved on to a verified charity. I will then shave my head to stand in solidarity with my sister and others who will or already have sadly lost their hair due to cancer and its harsh treatments. The money raised will help to support Jaime’s living expenses (rent, bills etc. as she lives on her own in Sydney) as well as potential ongoing medical expenses. Jaime is about to endure an exhausting journey over the next few months both mentally and physically. Working in childcare means that her job is demanding and therefore it is unlikely that she will be working full time during her treatment. Mum has also had to retire from work due to a chronic illness which has made the family monetarily situation difficult. A portion of the money will also be donated to the Lymphoma Foundation to help fund research and cures. I have signed up for the Legs Out For Lymphoma virtual event and will be running and cycling 200km over the next 3 months to raise awareness and funds. If you would like to make a donation directly to that page you can do so via this link; https://www.mycause.com.au/page/242121/stacey-lukas
Thank you for everyones thoughts, prayers, messages, hugs, support and positivity.
Love to all,
Stace x
