Xieng Cheng Yang of Stevens Point, WI, passed on August 31st, 2021 at 82 years old in St. Michael's Hospital. Xieng Cheng was born September 10th, 1938 to Xieng Kao Yang and Chong Xiong in Na Phong, Laos. He has three older brothers and a younger sister. At the age of 15, Xieng Cheng joined the army. He was a sergeant under General Vang Pao for the USA during the Secret Wars/ Vietnam War. Xieng Cheng became known as Nai Xaim and Sergeant Blong Yang during his time in the military. During his studies, he learned to write and speak in Laotian, French and English. He married Neng Vang in the 1970's and had four children: Mee, La, Nangkeo, and Tou Yia Yang. He also adopted his brother's son named Ua Yang. Unfortunately, two of his children passed during the war.
After the war, Xieng Cheng took his family and immigrated to the USA in 1989. He started his life in America at Long Beach, Ca, and became a USA citizen in 2005. After many hospitalizations, his health condition worsened. Eventually, Xieng Cheng passed away due to severe heart disease at the end of August.
Xieng Cheng was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was kind and respectful to everyone he met. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the park to catch fish or go on hikes. He loved nature and going on adventures to gather wild mushrooms or plants in his free time. He enjoyed dressing up in white dress shirts and traveling to different places in his car.
