I t all started about three years ago. I went to the doctors and thought I had strept throat.They gave me some antibioticts and told me to come back in two weeks to see if it had gone away.Well it didnt go away and they sent me to the ear,nose and throat doctor who said I had cancer on my tounge.So they set up treatment for me and I began my first summer of radiation therapy and chemo. I had to go to a city 65 miles away from where I live.It cost me lots of money in gas and also over 10,000 miles on my truck! this treatment went on for over 6 months,and I would go for treatment and drive all the way back and go directly to work.It was a long day! I was also eating from a tube in my stomach for 3 months while this treatment was going on.After about 6 months had passed,they gave me a pet scan to see if the treatment had killed the cancer cells.They told me it had and I was in remission. I kept seeing my oncologist every 3 months after,he would stick a camera up my nose and tell me" I dont see anything",,, " I dont see any cancer there". After another almost year had gone by,he sceduled me for another pet scan. The pet scan showed a tumor!!! the size of a half dollar on my lymp node in my neck.They made an appointment for me to have a neck dissection done to remove the tumor. They cut me from my ear to the bottom of my neck and removed the tumor and sewed me back up. After that they told me to come esee the doctor who had performed the surgery. He told me that the tumor had attached itself to my coarted artery and said " It does not look good for you" I couldnt believe that I was seeing the doctor all summer and he kept telling me he didnt see anything??? All the while this cancerous tumor was growning and making things worse!! So after that came another pet scan and it showed the cancer to still be there ,then had spread to my lung where my throat and lungs meet. So more chemo and more radiation would continue through the next summer.This time the treatment called for 100% dose of chemo and more radation on my neck and my lung. more time passed and i had another petscan which showed the cancer on my lung had gone.These treatments had laid me on the couch for 5 days afterwards and I was able to work here and there and was able to pay my bills somewhat. I did have help from my father and stepmother,and had insurance from work but even withy that I still have alot of bills coming in.Oh yes, I forgot to tell you all the while this was happening,I had to have almost all my teeth ground down and capped.The radiation treatments had killed the saliva glands in my mouth and my teeth which (were) perfectly healthy had rotted from having no saliva glands. Now time has passed and Ive gone for another biopsy which showed no cancer,three weeks later ive had my 7th pet scan which has shown the CANCER HAS RETURNED! This time I will not be able to work.They tell me I should go on disablity,which takes forever to get ( If your approved! I wont be able to pay my bills,cancer and other living exspences,such as rent , food,gas to go to treatments etc. I will start loosing everything,mabey even my life because I will not afford to pay for treatments and living exspenses and bills. This is my last resort and probably my last chance at stopping this cancer and life. I hope you will help and if you have ever had cancer im sure you know how very painful it is and what a toll it takes on you and your family and not knowing if your going to live or die.
