Piper is one of our lovely school horses . On Friday November 8th, Piper had a horrific freak accident in her stall . The accident left with her with an injured hind leg and horrific injuries to her head and face . She suffered multiple jaw fractures and was so swollen in the head she was having trouble breathing . After being rushed to the clinic it was determined she would need surgery to repair the fractures but she was in too weakened of a state to attempt it yet. Piper needed an emergency tracheotomy to help her to be able to breathe .
She has paralysis on one side of her face due to the trauma and inflammation . Her eye suffered the worst of the damage . Piper continued to improve daily and showed all the vets that she was tough and wanted to get better ! She started eating even with her damaged jaw! After a week, Piper was able to have her jaw surgery . A few days later I was able to bring my girl home . Piper still has a long road to recovery and has to have round the clock care to her eye . She is receiving 4 different meds every four hours . She is continuing to improve and has been such a great patient . This 11 year old Tb Mare , showed me and proved to me she wanted to live! She is so resilient and is trying so hard to get better . I am lucky Piper even has this opportunity . Her bills are astronomical and will continue to build with all her after care . I am praying for some help as I cannot manage this on my own . This beautiful mare and I desperately need your help . Any help, big or small is beyond appreciated . Thank you for taking the time to read about Piper and to help us .
