Help me get a prosthetic eye
Donation protected
Hello my name is Sharon on 10/26/22 I closed a very traumatic chapter of my life. After dealing with an eye injury for 23 years and having over 10 surgeries, I lost my battle due to my retina detaching. On account of the scar tissue and all of the different traumas that were wrong with my eye, having surgery did not fix it. I was told that I would be in constant pain and the only way to alleviate it would be to have my eye removed. I did get a second opinion and was told the same thing. I tried to tough it out as long as I could but ultimately I went with the route of having an enucleation of my left eye. I am now pain free and feel amazing. Although, I do feel incomplete whenever I look in the mirror or I see others staring at me. I recently received the news that insurance would not cover for a prosthetic eye and I’m faced with the reality that I need to pay $4,500 out of pocket, upfront before I can receive the prosthetic eye. It is very hard for me to ask for help as I am a very strong person and I try to deal with issues by myself. With that being said I am hoping that someone, anyone would help me. Anything no matter how small would help. I want to say thank you in advance for your unselfish donation to my recovery and self-esteem.
