Support Our Family in Crisis After The Flood 2024, Vermont

We are two educators who raised their kids in our home. Last year our home was flooded and we tried to apply for the FEMA BuyOut program. We learned this year that we were denied the possibility to even apply.

This year's flood left six feet of heavy silt in our basement, flooded the first flood, ripping away the bridge next to our house and creating a river bed where once our backyard was. We are finding ourselves homeless and in shock.

Our insurance told us they will not pay and our town told us we are not eligible for FEMA BuyOut. So far there has been no federal Declaration of Emergency for Vermont which triggers funds.
