"Your life can change in an instant." We've all heard it said before and until your life has truly been changed in one single moment, one minute, one second...we don't fully understand the magnitude of such statement.
The lives of Darryl Dickerson and his family changed in an instant on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Darryl played golf with his father earlier in the day. Upon his return home, Darryl, his wife Amber and their two children Savannah (15) and Dalton (12) decided they would enjoy the remainder of the afternoon playing in the swimming pool in their backyard. Unfortunately, the fun soon turned to fear when it was realized that Darryl was badly injured.
Darryl, who was unresponsive, was life flighted to the trauma unit where the doctors informed the family that he had broken his neck and back and was placed on a ventilator.
Darryl has made some progress, as far as opening his eyes and moving his head a couple of times. Though this is encouraging news, the doctors are trying to determine which course of action to take, as far as surgery on his spine or using a halo to stabilize it. It is still too early to determine what the long term effects will be.
Clearly, it is going to be a long road to recovery for Darryl, in which he will be out of work for a significant amount of time. Medical bills are already mounting and Amber does not need the distraction or worry about how the bills will be paid. In an effort to alleviate that stress, please consider giving toward Darryl's fund, so Amber, Savannah and Dalton can focus on him. Their concern should be what it is they need to do as a family to support Darryl through this time and what it's going to take to ultimately bring him home.
There is no such thing as a dollar amount "too small." I would also ask you continue to pray for Darryl and the Dickerson family, as their lives have indeed been changed.....
Thank you from the Dickerson Family
