Please help save a life

Early this morning I found a dog stumbling down a road in the township where I work as a police officer. As I approached him, he got scared and tried to run away. He went a few feet down an embankment and just stopped, lacking the strength to go farther. I could see that he had a wound on his face but I couldn't tell how bad it was. I was able to get him into the back of my patrol car and dove him to our local animal hospital.

After an examination the doctor determined that he had been shot on the right side of his face. The bullet then traveled through his ear canal region and exited under his chin. Besides the broken bones near his ear, he had lost so much blood that he was close to death.

The vet says he needs immediate blood transfusions just to stay alive long enough for his other injuries to heal. My wife and I decided to pay for his care out of pocket since no owner stepped forward. The total is likely to be around $2000. I'm only asking for half of that here, just to relieve some of the financial pressure. Thanks for your consideration and generosity.
