Trey’s Transplant Recovery and Medical Funds

Many of you have already donated, and I think most of my immediate circle/bubble has seen the gofundme by this point. I’m hoping to get as many new eyes on my story as possible!
The fundraiser was started in December 2020 to help me cover medical bills and living expenses accrued over the past 3 years while my kidney was failing, as well as cover the year of recovery following the transplant. Luckily, I did have that transplant, though not nearly as early as was expected. The goal was set with intention that the transplant was going to happen in January-February of 2021. It ended up happening 6 months later in July after many hurdles, and as such I racked up more medical bills and living expenses during that time. I am not increasing my goal amount, and if we don’t reach the goal I am still so grateful for your support, but reaching it/getting closer to it would go a long way to helping me make it through the next year comfortably and stress free.
In order to recover most effectively and set up a foundation for sustaining my health moving forward, time is essential. I will be slowly weaning off heavy doses of immunosuppressants, anti virals/biotics, blood pressure meds, steroids, and meds to counter some of the side effects all of the other meds can cause. This process takes a year, during which time I’m more vulnerable to infections and kidney rejection events. So, reducing stress and exposure, while eating a healthy diet, sleeping enough each night, and developing good working habits are key.
To that extent, I want to be able to have the option to go without a full time job for as long as I can over the next year. I want the flexibility to take sick days or not have to stress about meeting deadlines. Will I go a full year? Perhaps not, but I will be doing all I can to save and stretch out my money while still being efficient and healthy. And, during this year I’ll be working on my skills and producing content in my career-domain (video game programming). I’ll just have much more flexibility with my time.
Your donation will not be wasted. While I of course will extend myself enough grace to not stress or beat myself up when I am not perfect, I am highly motivated to make this next year a huge success for myself and for my future. It’s hard to describe, but the energy and motivation I have is at 9000%. The past three years were TOUGH, and one of the hardest things was dealing with the feelings of stagnation. Traumatic is one way to put it. I have so much pent up desire to succeed that the problem won’t be improving myself, but to do so at a pace that’s sustainable/not over working. I hope the content that I produce during this year will not only benefit me, but provide entertainment, education, and inspiration to those who check it out.
