Rome's Medical Fund

My name is Theresa Manuel from Lafayette, La and I am setting up this GoFundMe page for my cousin Hannah & Anthony Dixon and their son Rome who is fighting for his life. On Wednesday May 4th my families life was changed forever with the news of the seriousness of my little cousins sickness. My 4 year old cousin Rome Dixon-who we thought was just stomach sick, maybe a virus and dehydrated...after being sent home from the ER Tuesday with anti nausea medication and instructions to watch, by Wednesday was lethargic and not able to stay awake. After returning to the ER Wednesday, they discovered his vitals were so low and they became very concerned, realizing he had fluid on his brain. He was rushed in for his first emergency brain surgery. By Thursday morning they let us know his brain was swelling and they were unsure of the cause. For the next 3 days there were endless tests and scans. The tests all came back negative for every out come they could conceive. By Sunday it was decided that he would have to undergo a second brain surgery not only to relieve pressure, but to do a biopsy. His brain is so small being as young as he is and they were unsure he would survive. Thank God he did! With the biopsy they now have some options for diagnosis, and that means more testing Monday, leaning to lymphoma or leukemia, which lead to more specific tests, a very specific MRI for the brain. By Wednesday the Drs. have given us a more specific possibility with a diagnosis still pending. Rome was air lifted to Children's Hospital in Houston on Wednesday May 11 in the afternoon. The pending diagnos is an extremely rare brain cancer called Gliomatosis Cerebri http://weillcornellbrainandspine.org/condition/gliomatosis-cerebri Rome's parents have not left his side, his father has not been back to work yet and will not return until they have a specific diagnosis and have been given a better idea of the treatment plan and possibilities. The time away from work will affect his pay, and the medical bills already at this time are in the hundreds of thousands. They also have 2 other children and will be traveling back and forth to be able to care for their other children as well. They need help as soon as possible and I want to do everything I can to help put the word out about the needs. I feel at this point that money is the last thing I want them to be concerned over while their son is fighting for his little life. I set up the funds to be deposited into Pat LaFleurs (Hannah's grandmother) account because she is the one who is handling the affairs at home along with caring for Hannah's other two children.. My Aunt Pat is able to transfer the funds as needed. The funds will be used to pay the endless amount of medical bills they are accumulating, help with family bills while Romes parents are unable to work, and travel expenses from Baton Rouge To Houston."
I would be so grateful if you would consider helping them in any way, no amount is too small and every bit counts and adds up. If you can't help financially, maybe you could share this news with someone you know who could help and of course we covet your prayers. Please pray for him, for healing, for peace, for strength for his parents and family and wisdom for the Doctors. For an accurate and swift diagnosis, and for successful treatment. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, I can't tell you how much it means to me. Theresa Manuel.
