For the Love of John

Hello, my name is Katrina, and I am raising funds to cover some of the expenses we've had since John has gotten sick and been unable to work. Anyone who knows John knows he loves what he does, and being unable to do it has been challenging for him.

We are currently falling behind in the mortgage and bills. We've skimmed down as much as we can, but John isn't able to work right now. He was diagnosed with CKD in 2018 and lived at stage two for a long time. The day after Christmas in 2022, we received a letter that he was at stage four, and it was due to a medication they had him on called Entresto. They told us to stop the medication immediately.

For the past year he has been put through the ringer as they adjusted meds and tried various things to prevent him from filling with fluids. He's been hospitilized multiple times over water in his lungs and on his body. In July of this year we were told he is ready for the transplant list.

The transplant team said he has to lose forty pounds and be reevaluated before he can be added. This is difficult because he fills with water and this raises his weight. Unless we can filter out the extra fluids and toxins the goal is impossible.

Most recently he got sicker than he's ever been and had to be admitted and put through emergency dialysis. He is now attending daily dialysis at the center as he is learning how to do the home machine. In two weeks he will bring the machine home and do dialysis from the comfort of his recliner with his favorite programs.

I was planning on learning with him, but we simply cannot afford for me to miss any more work. My check this week is $300 shorter than normal from what I've already missed, and things are going to fall behind even if I work every shift. I do not make enough alone to cover even our mortgage. I tend to only have enough to make my car payment and pay the utilities. So we could really use some help at this time.

Anyone who knows John knows he doesn't like to ask for help. He would much rather be the one to help others. Since we made his journey public the response has been so beautiful. To see how many people love and support him. How many of you shared stories with me about John that just confirmed all the wonderful reasons I love him.

I am looking to replace just some of his lost income until he can go back to work. The money raised here will be used to support our basic needs as John recovers and gets better.
