Henkel House Rescue
Some of you know our friends Brendan and Amanda Henkel. Even if you don’t know them, their recent experience is heartbreaking.
A couple of weeks ago they were victims of fraud and they need any help anyone might be able to provide.
On September 10, they were scheduled to close on a new house that they had recently purchased. Because of a unique agreement with their real estate company, even before they had closed, they were living in their new house and have been since July.
So many pieces of their dreams were becoming reality when someone from their title company made contact with the information needed to wire the money to close on their house. They were a day away from finalizing the deal. Almost there.
The problem was that the person who made contact was not from their title company, but a very sophisticated imitator. Within minutes of Brendan wiring the $49,400 required for their close, it became obvious that it was a fraud. But it was too late. Someone had stolen almost $50,000 of their money, their last dollars, and everything they had to be able to finalize the purchase of their house.
Can you imagine losing $50,000 in the blink of an eye? Can you imagine facing the loss of your family’s home?
Now, they have a month to recover the funds. If they don’t, they will lose their house and not have anywhere to go. All of us who know them are brokenhearted for them and are committed to raising the funds needed to save their house. If you can, consider giving to help them survive this crime and keep the house their family has been living in for the last few months while they worked out the specifics of their closing.
Lastly, please share this story to as many of your friends as you can. The more people who know the more that can be done.
