Hi! My name is Mike Klaskala. I moved to Durango, CO from Starkville, MS two and a half years ago to attend Fort Lewis College. I was majoring in Piano Performance and life was good. My piano teacher, Dr. Campi, was rad, I had a good job as a caregiver and I was living out of a Step Van I bought with my school loan money. But, I decided that I could make a much bigger impact in the world right now by turning my Step Van into "The Hummus Bus"! Durango needs a place that serves food that is quick, cheap, healthy, eco-conscious, and oh- so satisfying. I hope I can fill that gap. I'm pretty excited about my extensive menu, but it will mainly consist of hummus, baba ganoush, toppings galore (Flame roasted veggies, roasted piñons, olives etc.) falafel/hummus wraps/pitas, halvah, and freshly made Limonana (lemon and mint drink). The good news is the project is already under way! I got a slot at The Farmers Market this summer and also for the Dandelion Festival May 7, 1-9 PM. The Dandelion Festival is at Rotary Park and it should be a hit this year! Music, yoga, free accupuncture. Lots of good things happening there.
Anyway, I'm trying to get a kitchen in before this all happens in May. I just got my tax return money, but I just need a little bit more help to get this truck up and runnin!
If I get the truck up and running by May, I will have a Hummus Festival for International Hummus Day on May 19 2016! Expect to see Liver Down The River, Alex Blocker and DJ Béeso (and maybe your band?) playing on my roof at 98 Animas View Drive right next to Mild to Wild Rafting. Please help turn this into a reality in any way you can! I make hummus every weekend. Please message me at 6627223801 to put you on the weekend call list! I will deliver you an 8 oz. container of hummus every weekend for $5. Also, if you donate $10, I will give you a full meal with hummus, piñons, israeli salad and pita. So you can either pay me in cash or with a card via gofundme in advance. And if you don't live in Durango, but you really love me, I accept donations of any amount. $3? $1? Anything helps.
