Soldier Ripped Off While Deployed
Donation protected
With sign on bonus for the Army, my brother, Josh Cartee, bought his dream car. Was a project car because he thought he had someone he could trust to do the work while he was overseas fighting this war. It's a 1979 Trans Am, he had over $7000 in parts, an LS1 motor, transmission, vortec super charger, new fenders, new radiator, new headers, among many other parts to get this car running in tip top shape by the time he would be able to come home. After 2 tours of duty in Iraq and 2 tours of duty in Japan, he finally comes home to get his car and is absolutely devastated. The "person" he entrusted with this car, the "person" that was supposed to put this car together and get it all painted up for him in addition to rebuilding, had utterly and completely ripped him off. The "person" sold everything except the shell and the interior. While he was serving our country the guy kept calling to tell him he needed this and that, my brother would send the money to get the parts. Everthing that was "needed" was never even purchased. Of course the person that did this has skipped town and hasn't been seen in the last few months. What he came home to is pictured.
I've said I would never use this site for anything. Although I've donated to different causes, I hoped I'd never find a reason to use it. As a family, we are doing everything we can to get the funds to repurchase everything that was lost and have someone we know to be trustworthy to build this car.
We did manage to find a shop, 4 Wheel Kustoms, in Independence, OH that is willing to do the labor for little to nothing. If there is anything anyone else can do to assist, even in the slightest, it would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone has any parts on hand that would work for this car, that would be great as well.
Oh and he has no idea we are doing this, once finished we're going to haul the car from home in Ohio to where he lives in Texas.
Thanks for taking the time to read & thank you in advance if you choose to donate.
