KEVINS MV1 DISABILITY SUV

Donation protected
On Friday, July 27, 2012,  what was supposed to be a fun day at the beach with the family, turned into the worst day of my family's life.  My husband Kevin just finished setting up the chairs, umbrellas, and towels for the kids and went to take a quick dip in the ocean.  Not even 10 minutes later, I saw two men carrying him out of the ocean.  In a panic, I ran over to them and asked what had happened.  The men told me to run and get help that my husband had broken his neck.  I stood there in disbelief and couldn't move.  It seemed like a dream and that everything was moving in slow motion.  Our children were screaming as they saw their father laying there not able to move. My husband was airlifted off the beach by helicopter to the nearest trauma center, AtlantaCare in Atlantic City, NJ where he had emergency surgery.  He suffered a C5 burst fracture, and C6 and C7 spinal fusion to the neck.   Kevin was in an induced medical coma for 7 weeks.  His lungs were in very bad shape from aspirating the ocean salt water.  His chances were looking grim, but miraculously he survived!  He spent the next 2 months living at Kessler Rehabilitation Hospital.  He was left a quadriplegic confined to a wheelchair.  Once a strong, healthy, active 48 year old man, now spends his days sitting in a wheelchair.  He is very depressed not being able to get up every day and go to work doing the job he loved more than anyting in the world.  He was an electrician for Local 3 for over 25 years.
It breaks my heart and our children's hearts who are still too young to realize the severity of my husband's conidtion and hate seeing him this way.  He is a wonderful person with a great heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  Now, I am asking you to please help him.  He just got his handicap driver's license and is hoping to drive.  We do not have the money to get him a vehicle that he would be able to get himself in and out of independently.   He is looking at the MV1 disability vehicle which retails at about $50,000-$60,000.  I am asking for your help to get him a vehicle equipped just for him.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your support and generosity.

Love,
Kevin, Linda, and family
