My name is Owen, I am 16 years old and have lived all my life in Whitchurch village. At the age of 11 I was diagnosed with ADHD which gave me a disadvantage with my learning skills as my attention span was affected and I was unable to complete tasks.
However, at the age of 12 my Dad took me to Cardiff Bay Yacht Club as I had always felt a passion for the water, and this visit led me to start sailing. I have for the past four years volunteered myself as crew to many of the club members and I take every opportunity that I am fortunate to be given. We have raced in the Solent and have achieved 18th in class out of 1500 boats participating and I have recently competed in the IRC Spinlock Welsh Championship against boats from Ireland, England and Wales.
I am setting up this page as I have been successfully accepted to do an 18 week Watersports Instructor Traineeship at the UKSA on the Isle of Wight which would lead me to many employment opportunities. The cost of this amounts to £2340 which I obviously cannot afford and even with generous contributions from my friends and family this fee is currently out of my reach.
This is my passion and I couldn't think of anything better in my life than to gain these qualifactions and lead me to fulfill my hopes and dreams.
