Mona's Surgery

My name is Sandra Denton and I have a sister who lives in Chile for the last 18 years. Her name is Carolina Maldonado.

My sister is an animal lover, especially for dogs and cats. Right now, she has 2 cats named Garota and Rusio and 2 dogs, Mona and Mila. Recently, her dog Mona has been going through a serious health issue and she’s in need of a surgery. My sister’s birthday is this month and I would love to help her to reach her goal and receive the money needed to have Mona healthy again. The cost of the surgery is the US $1,420.

On January 24, 2014, while I was on my way to work, I looked under a tree and saw a cardboard box. I noticed something moving. When I got closer, to my surprise, I found 2 abandoned puppies: a male and a female, covered in fleas and suffering from severe malnourishment and dehydration.

I took the box with me to work. One of my coworkers kept the female puppy and I decided to adopt Mona. Since that day, she has brightened our days living with us. Approximately a month ago, she started to limp and have difficulties walking, and day by day her health kept deteriorating.

I took her to the vet and after some x-rays and lab tests, they determined that she has a ligament tear and requires a tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) surgery to fix the tear. If we do not fix the tear, Mona will develop arthrosis and she won’t be able to walk anymore.

Unfortunately, I don’t have pet insurance and have already used my savings on the vet fees and tests. I would really appreciate all the help that anybody could give me to make my baby healthy again.

Mi nombre is Sandra Denton, les presento a mi hermana Carolina Maldonado que vive en Chile desde hace 18 años. Mi hermana siempre ha sido una amante de los animales y es por eso que le encanta ayudar a gatos y perros desamparados. En la actualidad ella tiene 2 gaticos (garota y Rusio) y 2 perritos (Mona y Mila). Recientemente su perrita Mona esta pasando por problemas de salud y quiero ayudarla colocando su historia, especialmente en este que es el mes de su cumpleaños para que todos conozcan su situacion y lo mucho que la amamos ya que el valor de la operación es bastante costosa. El valor de la cirugía es de US $1.420

El 24 de enero del 2014 iba de camino al trabajo y bajo un árbol una caja de cartón se movía me acerqué y la abrí y ahí habían 2 cachorros un macho y una hembra, llenos de pulgas y desnutridos, tomé la caja y la llevé conmigo, un compañero se llevó al macho y nosotros decidimos quedarnos con la hembra. Desde ese día vive con nosotros, hace 1 mes comenzó a tener dificultades para caminar y poco a poco fue empeorando, el doctor dice que tiene rotura de ligamento cruzado y solo se soluciona con una cirugía Osteotomía de nivelación de la meseta tibial (TPLO), si no la operamos en un corto tiempo tendrá artrosis en sus patas traseras y no podrá caminar.
