My Mobility Service Dog
Donation protected
I was diagnosed with Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome in January 2021, giving me answers to the pain that I have been dealing with for quite a few years.
Chronic pain in the Ehlers–Danlos syndromes, especially in hypermobile EDS (which is what I have been diagnosed with) is very common and can be severe.
I suffer from severe chronic pain on a daily basis. I have falls daily. I use a cane, a walker, and a wheelchair.
So many of you have read my posts and followed along for the past couple of years. I am grateful for you for showing that support. It means a lot to me.
This past week I got some wonderful news. I have been given the opportunity to receive a puppy donated to me to be trained as my Service Dog.
This dog will be trained to help me with the mobility needs I have; helping me with the confidence and some independence I strongly need. While also helping my family feel confident when I am left alone at home for short periods of time.
EDS causes lightheadedness and low energy (among so many other health issues). I am in need of a assistant dog to help with balance, standing, or go for help when I fall. Most people don’t think twice about things like turning on a light switch or opening a door, needing help to pick up things that have fallen on the floor, but these are some of the things that are a real challenge for me.
I am so grateful to have you support me on this new journey. I am humbled to have this opportunity, words are hard to express.
I want to thank your willingness to support me. Asking for help is hard. I have been independent for a very long time, until my health changed and I am no longer able to work.
A small gift of $5 will be so helpful in reaching my goals for training this dog to suit my needs. I would be honored to have you partner with me.
Again, your support is so appreciated.
Thank you all so much.
