Many of you know Rick Spring, as a man dedicated to his faith, family, and friends. He is the husband of Joy, father to Craig and Melissa (Steve Furtah), grandpa to Kyle, and friends to many people in his community and around the country. On September 23rd, Rick suffered a massive heart attack while sleeping. By the Grace of God, Joy was awake and realized he had stopped breathing and immediately went into action to save his life. Due to the heart stopping Rick suffered loss of oxygen to his brain and has suffered the loss of many physical functions. He has been through much and has been recovering ever since. We first saw him with no signs of activity, being kept alive by machines. God had other plans for Rick, and we watched our prayers answered as he opened his eyes and began to follow what was going on around him.
Rick was sent to Mary Free Bed in Grand Rapids for rehabilitation and again in answer to prayer became more and more alert and has been able to recognize and communicate with people. He is making a strong, but slow comeback. However, due to insurance issues he is being sent home too soon where he will need continued in-home care. His devoted wife Joy has been by his side from the beginning but can’t do this all on her own. The basic care he will need such as home modifications along with in-home care will all be extremely costly. These funds will help Joy get Rick home where he can relax, recover quicker and be able and wake up and yell "hey buddy!".
If you are reading this, then you know Rick and have been impacted some way in your life by knowing this great man. Sadly the family has seen some of the weaknesses in our medical and insurance industry. They need your help in paying for therapy, in-home care and medical/therapy equipment. We are confident that Rick will return to health and we will again see that love for life and love for his fellow man that makes Rick such a special person and friend in our lives.
We love you Rick and are here for you!
Thank you.
