Kaila is a wonderful wife and mother, an amazing daughter, the perfect friend and a hard worker. She is one who believes that love is ‘what you do’ and she does a lot for many but now she needs help. Kaila had a 5 year history of fibroids but last year, she noticed it grew tremendously. She was always tired and in pain and had to work from home on many occasions. By January of 2015, despite treatment, the fibroid had grown to be the size of a 6 month old fetus (unborn baby), she was extremely anemic and malnourished. In February, she decided to take her life back and undergo a Myomectomy. After all she had just purchased a home with Joey, her husband of 5 years and she would rather spend time playing with their 4 year old daughter, Malia, than laying down all day. She knew that this surgery would render her disabled for six weeks and since disability insurance only pays a small percentage of her income, she worked until the day before her surgery to assist with household expenses. In March, Kaila received the surgery and was recovering well; she started working in the office again and was enjoying quality time with family and friends. In the early part of May, Kaila began having abdominal pain, loss of appetite, and became increasingly tired. She then notice a lump in her lower abdominal region (near her surgical scar). Over a short period of time, the lump grew and ulcerated through her skin. Her doctor performed a series of tests on her and she received surgery which removed her ovaries and 5 tumors from her abdomen. Today, her doctor diagnosed her with Leiomyosarcoma. She will begin chemotherapy soon until an indefinite date. As a result of this diagnosis, she will not be able to return to work any time soon. We all know that stress of any kind is harmful to healing (The stress hormones cortisol shuts down the immune system which is needed to fight disease), and when you have a spouse and children who depend on you, it is difficult to focus on fighting cancer. In times of need, Kaila would always be there for family and friends. Now, she can use the support. We know that God is a healer and is able to do the impossible if only we put our trust into him. However while we wait for God to restore her health, we ask that you assist this family during their time of difficulties by donating whatever you can. This will assist Kaila and her family for any household expenses that her disability insurance will not cover. We also ask you to lift her name and family up in prayer. God bless.
