Run To Save The Sharks
Donation protected
My name is Mark Batres, I’m 10 years old and I love sharks. Two years ago, I started my Run To Save The Sharks and through my gift and passion which is running, I was able to raise money to support something that matters a lot to me- shark conservation. I don’t want seeing sharks in the wild to be just a memory for me. I want them to be around for generations to come. I think it’s sad that human impact has already devastated the shark population- now we need to protect them.
Earlier this year, I traveled to Mexico to swim with Monk Devil Rays, Blue Sharks, and Whale Sharks. My favorite was the Blue Shark! I was so sad to learn that this beautiful, important shark is on the Red List Near-threatened. To protect them, Mexico Azul, a non profit shark conservation organization, is using satellite tagging to estimate Blue and Mako population data independent of fishing data, understand their migration patterns, and estimate mortality of these sharks from fishing.
This year, I am running 100 Miles for Mexico Azul! Please help by donating to my fundraiser so we can help Mexico Azul in their research and efforts to protect the sharks there.
