Running for Lebanon

Donation protected
On  4 August 2020,  a massive explosion in Lebanon's capital, Beirut, has left at least 154 people dead, 5,000 injured and 300,000 homeless.

The explosion has exacerbated the already dire situation Lebanese people have been facing. Due to the economic and political crisis, 33% of people have lost their jobs and one million people are living below the poverty line. Lebanon has seen over a 90% rise in inflation which has put staple foods and resources out of reach for the majority.

The explosion at the Port of Beirut has destroyed 120,000 tons of grain silo creating a food shortage in the country; any available food will be widely unaffordable for many people.

On top of all this, Lebanon is still fighting Covid-19.

My brother and I have both decided to run 10.452km for 10 days. The 10.452km represents the country's surface area, 10,452km2, and our support for the whole country.

We want to raise £1000 which we will donate to the Lebanese Red Cross
and Impact Lebanon. Both of these organisations are trusted and transparent, ensuring that all donations are being given to those who need them. The Red Cross is providing aid to hospitals and people who have been injured from the explosion and Impact Lebanon is working closely with NGO's to mobilise resources to the country.

More information can be found here:

We will start running Monday 17 August and hope to complete the 10 days by Friday 28 August.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated! We will be posting the receipts to both charities once we have completed the 10 days.

Thank you,
Emily and Daniel
