Ashland Asylum-seeking Family

Donation protected
Diane Koosed and Scott Lake, are hosting an asylum-seeking family in Ashland, Wisconsin. They are escaping life-threatening conditions in Central America and Mexico and are here legally, seeking asylum.   Asylum-seeking families are only released from detention when there is a family willing to take them in, and Diane and Scott  have opened their home to allow this family a decent life while their asylum case is adjudicated.  The family  arrived in Ashland literally with nothing more than the clothes on their backs.  Their daughter is now enrolled as a third-grader at Lake Superior Elementary School, and while the parents are eager to work, immigration rules restrict their ability to do so.

While they are in Ashland (at least several months), the family will need funds for legal representation, medical costs, living expenses, and required trips to the Twin Cities to check in with ICE.  No matter where we each stand in the swirl of politics surrounding immigration issues, we can all help this one mother and one father try to find a safe place to raise their daughter.  Giving here will help more than you can know. And please don't be shy about giving small amounts--it all adds up and helps so much!

For security reasons we have not included names or photos of the family.
