Help My Family Get An Apartment

Hey all. My name is Harley. I’m putting this fundraiser together for my mom and my brothers to be able to pay for a new apartment.

They were forced to move out of their prior rental down in California after months of the landlord refusing to take care of issues with the property (rodents, structural issues that were landlord responsibility). They decided to head north to Washington state, as that is where my spouse, child, and I are planning on moving as soon as we are able to sell our house. My mom attempted a prior fundraiser to get enough to purchase an old used RV to allow them to have a safe, cheaper space to stay while trying to find an apartment, but it didn’t gain much traction and they weren’t able to get it.

With the funds they did manage to raise, they were able to cover a U-Haul and get to Washington, but a lot of unforeseen factors (including having to buy a brand new tire for my brother’s car) cut into their funds more than they could have anticipated. Since arriving in Kent, they’ve been staying at a Motel 6 because it’s the only place that accepts the amount of animals they have. (My mom is also trying to rehome two senior bonded dogs and one cat as they won’t be able to find a place to live that will accept all of the animals. Originally the senior dogs were going to be taken before they left California, but that also fell through.)

Both my mom and one of my brothers are currently working, and my other brother starts a new job on July 31st. Despite all of them working, they’re having to spend so much on continuously extending their motel stay, which means they’re not able to save up any money to try and find an apartment. They’re struggling to even continue extending their stay because of how much it costs each night.

I am a stay at home parent and have no income to help, so I’ve been doing all I can through social media to try and help get their story out there and get them into a more stable place. Making this fundraiser is another part of me doing what I can to help them out as much as I can.
