Run For The Kids

In October 2023, Team St Barnabas will be taking part in the marathon event of the Melbourne Marathon, with the aim of raising 30,000 Australian Dollars for a medical centre in regional Northern Kenya, within the campus of St Barnabas Orphanage and School.

As part of the run, our 3-member team made up of Joseph Licciardi, Anthony Licciardi and John Bougias will run 42.2km, and will be remotely joined by secondary school students of the St Barnabas Orthodox Christian School community in Kenya, who will run their own cross-country distance around the school grounds. The fundraiser aims to finalise the first round of construction of a community medical centre, which has been delayed by the rising costs of materials in Kenya. 

Once completed, the medical centre will provide medical and dental care to the 280+ students of St Barnabas, most of whom are orphans, as well as the wider community in Northern Kinangop, approximately an hour’s drive from Nairobi. This fundraiser follows a successful school cross country in March of 2021, which contributed to the completion of a dormitory building on-campus, and was attended by some very special guests within the Orthodox Christian community in Kenya.
