Thomas Rylin Wilson has been diagnosed with SCC (squamous cell carcinoma). He has a cancerous tumor in the right side of his face. This diagnosis is extremely rare amongst children. This is the second tumor that has developed over the last year. The first tumor was extracted last July at OU Children’s Hospital. Since the second tumor has formed, OU has referred him to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for further care.

Rylin has just received the treatment plan which will include aggressive radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He will have a port and feeding tube put in first then they for-see 7 weeks of treatment, and if this helps shrink the tumor then no surgery on his face. If it doesn’t respond well to chemo and radiation then he will endure a huge 3-part operation to remove the cancer, lymph nodes and reconstruct his face with bone from his leg.

Rylin is 7yo son of Thomas and Amanda Wilson. He has 2 brothers Mylin and Kylin, as well as a sister Bliss. We come from the Comanche Apache and Kiowa tribal nations. Rylin normally attends Apache Elementary and is in the 2nd Grade. He is a straight A student and tells me he’s the funniest kid in class! Rylin has been through so much in the past year, ER visits, several surgeries, biopsies, IVs, and numerous medications changes.

This illness has taken our family by surprise as he has always been healthy his entire life. He is taking everyday the best he can and doing everything the medical team has asked of him. The next few months will be the hardest yet. Please continue to uplift the family and Rylin in prayer. Every dollar given is going towards his care while we are here, away from our home, at St. Jude’s in Memphis Tennessee.
