For the past two weeks, my father, sister and I have been on the hunt for a new home to live in. Our lease was up and our landlord did not wish to renew our lease. In the efforts of trying to find a new home, we came in contact with a man who showed us a home we loved, made a contract, and payed him 2,400 dollars. Little did we know, the man we payed was NOT the owner of the house and has disappeared. We have filed a police report, contacted our banks in efforts to get the money we lost back so we can find a new home. We never though we would be in a situation like this. We're running out of time to find a house and have no money in our name. The full 2,400 dollars we lost was all of my father and i's savings. We have less than 2 weeks to move out and have start gathering our pennies all over again. Our bank does not consider this situation fraud, since our identity was not stolen. My family just hopes that the hearts of our communities can find it in themselves to help us through this difficult time, whether it be a dollar, a prayer, or even a kind word, at this rate, we'll take anything we can get. I've never seen my father more worried or devastated before. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for even taking the time to read our story. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
