Support Nelson Family's Medical Crisis
Donation protected
A family dear to our community is in need of our support! Please see this update:
Thank you to everyone for your support and kindness over the past few weeks. Jake is home and returned to school on a modified full-day schedule earlier this week. Unfortunately, his vision hasn't yet returned in his left eye. He was diagnosed with a severe concussion with loss of consciousness and seizure, traumatic optic neuropathy, and acute monocular vision loss. We continue to pray that over time, Jake will regain some vision. Jake is taking things in a characteristically good-natured stride. He is positive, hopeful, and brave -- and literally willing his vision to return. He doesn't want the extra attention, but knows for now, the sudden change comes with doctor visits, school adjustments, and a little more support than he -- or any teenage boy -- would like. : )
Your donations will cover our medical bills and support Jake is getting the therapy he needs to adapt to this new way of seeing the world. Thank you so much for your generosity. It has eliminated the financial stress and allowed us to focus on caring for our son and adjusting to the changes in our home and family life. With the loving community we have to lean on, we know Jake will thrive.
With gratitude,
The Nelson Family

Parents, Renee and Brian are educators and have given to our community deeply over many years. This is our chance to support them in their time of crisis.
Their son, Jake, was in an a serious accident recently which required an airlift to Children's Hospital. He sustained head trauma which resulted in seizures and loss of vision in one eye. Once discharged, he'll need ongoing therapy and treatment.
Please consider contributing what you can - no matter how small - to help alleviate the immense financial (on top of emotional) impact of this medical emergency.
