Amanda’s Battle with Cancer

Organized by the children of Amanda Frederick-Paro: On April 19th Amanda was admitted to Providence Hospital in Waco for severe upper back pain, with loss of balance and feeling. Doctors discovered an extremely large tumor on her inner spine, causing damage to her spinal cord, with multiple smaller tumors along her spine. Upon removal of the largest tumor, neurosurgeon Dr. Hamilton sent samples off to Mayo Clinic for pathology testing and diagnosis. Immediately following surgery, Amanda spent one week in recovery at the hospital, before being transferred to the Encompass Health and Rehabilitation facility in Waco. At Encompass she would spend 2 weeks focusing on occupational and physical therapy to learn to walk again. Just under 2 months after surgery, while fighting every day to walk again, pathology results revealed an aggressive type of cancer found in the brain and spinal cord. Amanda will undergo 5 weeks of radiation to treat and hopefully remove the cancer for good, in conjunction with ongoing PT/OT to regain her ability to walk. All proceeds from this GoFundMe will help Amanda with medical expenses, travel, and living arrangements, as she will need to relocate to a Dallas cancer facility for 5 weeks. Amanda is a selfless, devoted, hard working mother of 5. We, her family, ask for prayer and support as we face this devastating challenge, and trust God to help us overcome.
