Sandra’s Story:

On February 17th, 2023 Sandra received a life-changing phone call from her physician informing her that she has invasive ductal carcinoma and ductal carcinoma in situ in her right breast. In an instant, Sandra’s world turned upside down. As many of you know, Sandra was about to enter an exciting transition in life: finishing up residency, accepting her first attending physician position, traveling the world, and endlessly pursuing her dreams. Whether you know Sandra as family, a friend, a coworker, or a classmate, I’m certain she has touched your life in one way or another. Sandra is strong and resilient, but as you can imagine, this has taken a toll on her physically, mentally, and financially.

Sandra has a long journey ahead of her. She just started 18 weeks of chemotherapy and after chemo, she will need to do radiation treatment every day for an additional 4 to 6 weeks. Sandra is also undergoing hormonal therapy which consists of injections every 4 weeks as well as daily medication for the next 10 years. This path to healing is very costly, and we are hoping to help alleviate what we can of this big burden so she can focus on recovery.

Despite everything she is going through, she has been staying as strong as possible. This GoFundMe page was created to help relieve Sandra of this huge financial burden.
